We have an amazing group of Fellows joining the NLC family this year, and we’re excited to learn more about the issues closest to them and why they love calling Philly “home."
What are you most looking forward to when it comes to the NLC Institute?
Gina: I'm most looking forward to working with the other NLC Fellows and learning more about the amazing things they're all doing throughout the City!
What are the issues closest to your heart?
Gina: As a Philly native, I'm so excited by all the local development going on and the increased interest in living in the city, but I'm also passionate about making sure that our great neighborhoods remain accessible and livable for people from diverse backgrounds and income levels.
Describe your ideal “Philly day.”
Gina: I love all of Philadelphia's open space amenities, so I would probably start with a run across the Ben Franklin or down to Race Street Pier, followed by a trip to Wissahickon Park with my boyfriend and our dog. I'd need to take a trip either to Reading Terminal or the Italian Market to grab some goods. Since you're giving me the WHOLE day to do whatever I want around town, I'd probably squeeze in a trip to the Penn Museum. I'd round out the day by grabbing some beers at my local dive followed by a great dinner with friends.
What do you love most about Philly?
Gina: There's always something interesting going on! Not only do we have a ton of great museums and cultural institutions, but Philadelphia has a huge creative community that produces excellent shows, music, and other programs. There's always something cool going on; and if not, there's some new bar or restaurant to check out.
