Meet Our 2016 Fellows - Anna Bohl-Fabian

We have an amazing group of Fellows joining the NLC family this year, and we’re excited to learn more about the issues closest to them and why they love calling Philly “home."

What are you most looking forward to when it comes to the NLC Institute?

Anna: What I'm most looking forward to with the NLC Institute is the people. As someone who values quality relationships and collaboration, I am excited to be part of, and learn from, such an amazing network of progressive leaders in this city. It especially excites me in thinking about the future. The NLC 2016 Fellows cohort is a group of inspiring, dedicated, and community driven individuals. The future of Philadelphia is in good hands.

What are the issues closest to your heart?

Anna: Education and the arts are two causes that are important to me. I value both in my personal life and recognize the importance of both in others' lives. To me, education and the creative arts play a crucial role in a person's success in life. Children in particular deserve access to both, and I hope to be able to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of these causes throughout my life.

Describe your ideal “Philly day.”

Anna: My ideal "Philly day" would undoubtedly revolve around food. While I have a few favorite places, I absolutely love exploring new parts of the city and trying new restaurants. An ideal day for me would be spent restaurant/bar hopping with friends, relaxing in the park, and finishing the evening with a view (I'm a sucker for a good city view).

What do you love most about Philly?

Anna: Although not from Philadelphia originally, I have developed a deep love for this city over the past few years. It is an extraordinary place that offers such a diverse, fun, and thriving environment for people to live, work, and play. I love the unique culture, the Philly pride that people feel, and the fact that it takes 15 minutes to walk across the city.  What I love the most is running into familiar faces on the street. Philly has all the perks of a big city, but the strong sense of community and connectivity between citizens here stands out to me as one of the best things this city has to offer.
